A note from Nina: Being from the classic "open and dump" school of cooking, I usually don't refer to formal recipes and I improvise on the ones I do try (unless it comes from a relative or friend of mine). If it works, then I jot everything down. The preferred cuisine at my house is good old, All-American Mom's cooking... no artful presentations, no busy frou-frou... if it tastes good, that's all that matters....
